Premonitions

It was early, too early,
the alarm had yet to sound.
For in about 3 hours more,
my feet mil hit the ground.

Today I turned age forty
and life seems incomplete.
My children need a brighter future,
one that’s not so bleak.

A rough and ragged tomorrow
are all that appears in sight.
An impoverished, rugged existence
that brings these fears to light

I’ve found an inspiration,
a belief within a dream.
It awoke me to this desperate life,
the life I’d lived and seen.

For in my dream, my richest treasure,
more valuable than gems and gold.
Is having the priceless gift of love
that is given and not sold.

So if you get a chance to sleep,
remember your dream tonight
For only a few are given this gift,
To foretell the future, foresee their life.
